ASCENT programme

We are pleased to announce the official opening of the call for applications for the ASCENT programme, coordinated by the University of Toulouse and co-funded by TIRIS and the European Commission (Horizon Europe – MSCA-COFUND-2025).

What is ASCENT?

ASCENT is a prestigious fellowship programme designed for advanced postdoctoral researchers. It aims to recruit 6 high-level researchers for a 5-year duration (single call for 2026/2027).

The 6 selected fellows will conduct independent, high-impact research within the University of Toulouse, in a stimulating and interdisciplinary environment.

Key Eligibility Criteria:

  • Hold a PhD.
  • Comply with the MSCA mobility rule: must not have resided or worked in France for more than 12 months in the 36 months prior to the call deadline.
  • ASCENT targets postdoctoral researchers with advanced scientific maturity (i.e., researchers with at least five years of postdoctoral experience).

Research Areas:

Proposals must align with one of the following 7 strategic domains:

  • Climate and environmental sciences;
  • Space and Earth observation sciences;
  • Gender studies and social equality research;
  • Governance, democracy, migration, and human rights;
  • Public health, epidemiology, and infectious diseases;
  • Biosciences and data-driven health research;
  • Sustainable aeronautics.

Timeline:

  • Application opening: 21 September 2026
  • Application deadline: 22 January 2027
  • Pre-selection results: 18 May 2027
  • Final results: 21 June 2027
  • Fellowship start date: Between September and December 2027
